The weeks-long 2014 Billabong Pro Tahiti surfing competition just wrapped up on Tuesday, with Brazilian Gabriel Medina winning the championship. The annual event is held in Teahupo’o in Tahiti, where thick, monstrous waves rise 7 to 10 feet, and sometimes up to 21 feet. The Tahitian reef break is also famous for its “barrels” for tube riders.
