Pitcairn drug bust yields 36 arrests


Seven more arrests were made in Pitcairn over the weekend in connection with a six-month undercover narcotics investigation that yielded warrants for 51 suspects, Pitcairn Police Chief Scott Farally said Tuesday.

Allegheny County police on Friday arrested 29 Pitcairn-area residents who were accused of being “low-level dealers,” as part of a sting that began about 6:20 a.m. and extended into the afternoon, Superintendent Charles Moffatt said.

Tahiti international banned for six months


FIFA have formally suspended Tahiti international Vincent Simon after the defender was found to have violated anti-doping regulations.

Vincent was banned after his tests showed traces of the prohibited drug tuaminoheptane following their 8-0 defeat to Uruguay in the 2013 FIFA Confederations Cup.

Gov assigns directors’ group to tackle drug problem


Governor Lolo Matalasi Moliga has acknowledged that there is a drug problem in the territory and has convened a group of his directors to tackle the problem.

Samoa News asked the governor as to what the administration is doing given the increase of drugs entering the territory through the U.S. Post Office.
