GovGuam salaries could rise: Budget bill would implement Hay study rates


Government of Guam employees could see a salary increase if the budget bill passed yesterday becomes law.

The Legislature’s amended budget bill for fiscal 2014, introduced and passed yesterday, includes $10.9 million to implement the study’s recommended salary increases.

Australia Commits Half a Billion to RAMSI Transition


The Australian budget for the coming 12 months sees an increase in budgetary support to the transition of the Regional Assistance Mission to Solomon Islands (RAMSI).

Labor government Treasurer Wayne Swan revealed that defense spending is set to increase despite Australian troops withdrawing from Solomon Islands, Afghanistan and East Timor this calendar year.

NZ dollar pares decline – Business News


The New Zealand dollar pared its decline during the local session as exporters took advantage of the strengthening greenback to ramp up their hedging with a cheaper entry point.

The kiwi increased to 82.13 US cents at 5pm from 81.88 cents at 8am, down from 82.90 cents yesterday. The trade-weighted index fell to 77.13 from 77.46 yesterday.
