Hidden travel and tourism island Kiribati and their national Airline Air Kiribati


Air Kiribati Limited is the national airline of Kiribati operating passenger services within the Gilbert Islands of Kiribati, and to Fiji. It also operates charters, medical evacuation and search and rescue services. Its main base is Bonriki International Airport, Tarawa Atoll.

Until 2008, it was the only airline to operate Kiribati domestic routes. In January, 2009, a new airline was established, Coral Sun Airways, that also flies to all of the Gilbert Islands.

Licence to annoy the poor tourists


I have a Licence to Drive a Motor Vehicle, issued by the Government of the Cook Islands. This may not seem like something to skite about but it is, in its small way, a testament to human perseverance.

Visiting Rarotonga a year ago I, like thousands of other tourists, rented a little moped to get around on and, as the law demanded, dutifully queued at the police station for a local driver’s licence.

Air Nuigini soon to fly into New Zealand


Papua New Guinea’s national flag carrier, Air Niugini, has announced that it will soon introduce new flights to Fiji and Auckland.

The announcement from board chairman, Garth McIllwain came just after Air Nuigini made its maiden flight to the Indonesian resort island of Bali.

Hawaiian to add more seats to Tahiti flights


Hawaiian Airlines is adding more seats to its weekly flights to Tahiti.The airline says it is responding to increased demand for its service to Papeete, Tahiti.Starting Nov. 2, Hawaiian will change the aircraft serving the route with one that adds 30 more seats.

Cook Islands favourite Pacific destination for New Zealanders


The Cook Islands has overtaken Fiji as the most popular South Pacific holiday destination for New Zealanders, for the second year in a row.

According to research company Roy Morgan, 56,000 New Zealanders travelled to the Cook Islands for a holiday in the year to May 2013.

TranAsia Airways to launch Taiwan-Palau route


Taipei, July 1 (CNA) TransAsia Airways announced Monday that it will launch a Taiwan-Palau route July 6.

TransAsia Airways said it decided to add the new route as island-visiting has become very popular among local people, noting that bookings for the carrier’s flights serving Okinawa, Ishigaki and Penghu were 95 percent full in July.

Farewell to Air Pacific, welcome Fiji Airways


AIR Pacific officially bid goodbye to the rainbow colours and welcomed a new era as it took on the name that it was previously known by when the airline began in 1951 — Fiji Airways.

In a lavish ceremony held at the Sheraton Fiji Resort yesterday, Fiji Airways board chairman Nalin Patel ushered in a new look national carrier, one that was distinctively Fijian and in touch with modern aviation standards.
